I have been the Director of Office Leasing for Simon Property Group for the past eight
years. During this period of time, the office portfolio has ranged from between three
to four million rentable square feet of Class "A" and Class "B" Office Buildings. As part
of my "teamwork" approach to leasing these assets, I engage local legal counsel to handle
all issues relating to new leases, amendments, REA's and other legal documentation that
will help me incrase both occupancy and value of the Properties.
One of these Office Buildings (the Fairmont Plaza) was lcoated in Downtown San Jose,
California. While I interviewed several attorneys to handle this asset, I ended my search
after meeting with John Colins. I found Mr. Collins to not only have a great knowledge of
the transactional leasing experience, I felt he would be responsive and innovative, for
at that time, it was a very convoluted property.
John and the rest of the leasing staff worked tirelessly in creating streamline leasing
procedures that, in turn, made the process easier for me to lease and renew new and
existing tenants. John was also very helpful and responsive when Simon Property Group
removed this asset from our portfolio.
